THIEF OF BAGHDAD With Live Band – June 12th in L.A.
I feel incredibly privileged every time I step foot into American Cinematheque’s Egyptian Theatre. While the Tarantino owned New Beverly might be a bit more intimate, there’s something majestical about the house that Sid built. Perhaps it’s the aura of history that surrounds the place, or mostly the fact I met my idol (Michael Mann) there that keeps it near and dear to my heart. This week they’re finishing up their two week devotion to Alfred Hitchcock (a program I was more than happy to partake in,) as well as an event that I think any bonafide film historian and buff should take part in. On June 12th at 4:00...
The Future of ECN
As you may have noticed things have been rather slow here at Eye Crave Network. Well, after a hiatus from the site so to speak, I’ve done some thinking on how to best continue its operation I’ve concluded it may be best to switch the focus of the site. Because there are ample news sites out there I’ve decided to switch ECN back to simple review only site. I’m currently working on a revamp of the site to give provide cleaner look for the new focus. I hope to have ready to go live in the near future. To those that have sent us material to review things are...
Oscar Nominations 2011
Well, here they are, the annual list of ‘chosen ones’ from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. This year’s Oscar noms are a fairly reasonable lot, with nary a glaringly ridiculous choice among them. Guess they heard that hullaballooza over “The Tourist” and it’s Golden Globe nods… I haven’t seen every single entry in any given category, so (for now) I’ll keep my opinions to myself, but feel free to stir it up in the comments section and I’ll join you once I’m fully informed. The 83rd Annual Academy Awards ceremony takes place February 27, 2011 and will be co-hosted by James Franco and Anne Hathaway. The...
WB Planning Lethal Weapon Reboot
Believe it or not, Lethal Weapon is getting a reboot. The venerable cop film series that put Australian superstar and complete wingnut Mel Gibson on the American map became big news again briefly in 2008, when word of a fifth film was being bandied about. Ultimately, Mel Gibson declined to take part, so the project was shelved. Now, a reboot with a new cast, penned by Tales From the Gangster Squad writer Will Beall and produced by Joel Silver, looks good to go.
